Brunch, Conversation and a Little Musical Inspiration
Combine a delicious brunch with live music and you have the makings of a darn good time.
On Wednesday morning, October 28, around 25 local seniors gathered to kibbitz, share a few laughs, and enjoy a feast of bagels and lox, salads and pastries at the monthly Shmooze Club at the Chabad Jewish Center of Mission Viejo.
Rabbi Zalman Marcus kicked things off with a brief talk about the value of reflection and inspiration in our daily lives. “Music lets you relax and explore parts of your soul you may not otherwise have the chance to do,” he said.
Musician Sir Henry took it from there. Switching between flute and saxophone, he entertained the crowd with selections ranging from Israeli folk music to jazz and rock, including a standout rendition of George Gershwin’s “Summertime.”
The Chabad Shmooze Club meets on the last Wednesday of each month and is open to seniors 55 and older.
