Comedy for a Cause: Standing Up to Cancer
A stellar lineup of comedians performed at the Laughs for Life benefit on Friday night at the Norman P. Murray Community & Senior Center in Mission Viejo.
Supporting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of South Orange County campaign, the evening featured stand-up comics Fritz Coleman (pictured, clockwise from top left), Ron Ruhman, Rachel Burch and Wendy Liebman.
Jokes about dating, marriage, aging, visits to the urologist—and Fritz’s 40-year career as a TV weatherman on KNBC in Los Angeles—kept the crowd of more than 300 people in stitches throughout the evening.
More than $7,000 was raised in ticket sales—a sum increased by sales of food, beer and wine at the event, as well as a silent auction. Every dollar raised goes to funding cancer research, providing patient support and advocating to end cancer.
